Coach Tupa has been coaching Speech since 2015 and has served as head coach since 2018. He and his wife, Breanna, are both teachers at the middle school. He also coaches football in the fall. When he is not coaching speech, he enjoys playing with his daughter, Hazel. His favorite part of speech is seeing the growth kids make every season.
Coach Swedburg has been involved in competing, judging, and coaching speech since 2008. Her favorite part of speech is getting students excited about public address categories – especially inform. When she’s not helping with speech, you’ll find her playing with her 3 dogs or trying out a new recipe.
Coach Laue has been judging speech for the past four years. This is his third year as a speech coach, specializing in Extemporaneous & Public Address categories. His favorite part of speech is watching the progress that students make throughout the season.
Coach Moulton has been judging speech since 2009 and coaching speech for just one year so far. She was in speech all through high school and competed in Extemporaneous Reading at State her junior year. Her favorite part of speech is helping students really connect to their interp. pieces and grow their performance skills. When she's not coaching speech, you'll find her reading a good book with her cats or spending time outside with her dogs.
Coach Peterson has lived in Willmar her entire life, went to school in Willmar and graduated in 2017. She has a 3 year old daughter named Persy. She was in high school Speech for 3 years and was in the categories Drama, Duo, and Extemporaneous Reading (Poetry). Her favorite parts of speech are definitely the interp. categories as she always has a lot of fun with those--characters especially! When she's not couching speech, you can find her with her succulents watching something involving Gordon Ramsey or on a walk in the woods. She is so excited to start the new speech year!
