Public Address Coaches

Coach Swedburg

Coach Swedburg has been involved in competing, judging, and coaching speech since 2008. Her favorite part of speech is getting students excited about public address categories – especially inform. If she’s not helping with speech, you’ll find her playing with her 3 dogs or trying out a new recipe.

Coach Laue

Coach Laue has been judging speech for the past four years. This is his third year as a speech coach, specializing in Extemporaneous & Public Address categories. His favorite part of speech is watching the progress that students make throughout the season.

Coach Bergh

This is Coach Bergh's first year coaching, though she has judged speech for the past few years. Her favorite thing about speech is seeing student confidence grow. Outside of speech, Coach Bergh is a teacher, photographer, and loves traveling!

Interpretation Coaches

Coach Johnson

Coach Johnson joined the coaching staff last year, but has been competing, judging, and coaching since 2004. Her favorite part of speech is seeing the "click" moments as her students reach new levels of personal growth throughout the season. Outside of speech, you'll find her covered in sawdust, dirt, or dog hair as she works on the house & gardens with her little dog in tow.

Coach Madsen

Coach Madsen is new to the team as a coach, but competed for Willmar from 2014-2019. She is excited to be back and helping out the next era of speechies! Her favorite aspect of speech is watching students discover and explore new passions. She spends most of her free time hanging out with her dog in the woods, the kitchen, or the studio.
